George Edward Lodge: The Unpublished New Zealand Bird Paintings - Text by CA Fleming
- Unit Price
This unique collection of 89 watercolour paintings by the renowned British bird painter, George Edward Lodge, was commissioned by the New Zealand Government in the early 1900's. Intended as a replacement for Buller's Birds of New Zealand, it was to have included a text by James Drummond. Due to the outbreak of World War I and a shortage of funds at the time, the plates were never published, and have since passed into the care of the National Museum of New Zealand where they remained until publication in this book.
