The author's plea in Still Being Punished is for a greater understanding of why kaumātua and kuia (old Māori men and women) do not speak Māori. She says, 'The psychological effect of literally being beaten for speaking Māori has stayed with them all their lives. Today they’re being punished by their own children and grandchildren for not speaking Māori. They are "still being punished".'

Huia Publishers 1999 (this edition 2014). 72 pages including bibliography.

Condition: secondhand paperback in poor condition. The photos show damage to the front cover and first few pages (water or vermin). When we source a better edition we will update this listing. However, all the words are there and the book is an important one.
